The effect of shikimic acid

Shikimic acid can be obtained in a variety of ways. It can be extracted from the fruit of star anise, synthesized artificially by chemical synthesis, or synthesized by microbial engineering bacteria.

As an important pharmaceutical chemical raw material, shikimic acid can be used in the treatment of a variety of diseases:

1.Antibacterial and anti-tumor

2. Anti-thrombosis

The effects of shikimic acid and its derivatives on cardiovascular system are manifested in anti-thrombosis and inhibition of platelet aggregation.  The results showed that shikemic acid had a strong inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation rate in middle cerebral artery embolization model rats.  Both intravenous and intramuscular shikimic acid can prolong the hemagglutination time of mice.

3. Anti-cerebral ischemia

Shikimic acid and its derivatives can improve cerebral ischemia, mainly by reducing the infarct volume, reducing the neurological function score, reducing the degree of cerebral edema, and increasing the cerebral blood flow in the ischemic area after focal cerebral ischemia in rats.  It has been proved that its derivatives can reduce the degree of red blood cell aggregation and inhibit platelet aggregation after cerebral ischemia, thus benefiting the cerebral microcirculation.
